Subject: CFP conference in NYC will go on

Dave,
From the cfp2003.org web site:
13th Annual Conference on Computers, Freedom & Privacy
Freedom to Move Think and Speak!
CFP 2003 WILL GO ON!
CFP 2003--APRIL 2-4

Dear Friends of Computers, Freedom and Privacy,

CFP 2003 will go on as planned in New York from April 2-4.

Naturally, we had to consider whether to proceed
in light of the war in Iraq that has now begun. We were concerned about the
security measures that may make travel more difficult, but we decided that
those concerns are outweighed by the importance
of the subjects to be discussed - now more vital than ever -- and the value
of the interaction between the members of the CFP community. We also
considered that many have already made arrangements to attend that could be
difficult to change.

We will be making some changes in the conference agenda to reflect the new
realities, but we are still expecting keynote addresses from important
thinkers ranging from Larry Lessing to Canadian Privacy Commissioner George
Radwanski, to former Congressman Bob Barr. There will be important and
timely discussions of a host of security and war on terrorism issues related
to Computers, Freedom and Privacy.

We will also be adding inexpensive one day registration fees for those who
can only attend a portion of the conference.

The new agenda will be posted on the CFP website www.cfp2003.org in the next
few days.

In the interim, if you haven't already made your plans to come, I urge you
to go ahead and do so now.

Thank You,

Barry Steinhardt
