I know as a highly paid academic and thought (ring) leader, you probably
have a spare $US295,000 set aside for Ram Island, a finger of land off the
coast of Maine in the US, which is up for auction at eBay.

Just think of the wireless information research lab you could establish
there.

The IP networkers' picnics.

The corporate retreat for harried IT execs.

Ram Island is 14 acres located about 3kms from the mouth of Machias Bay,
near the coastal town of Machiasport, Washington County, Maine, USA.

"This is an opportunity of a lifetime - one may never see an entire island
for sale again anywhere, ever," The auction description reads.

The island is about a 1.5 hour drive from Bar Harbor, 4 hours from Portland
and 6 hours from Boston.

Ram Island has grassy fields culminating in an elevated grassy knoll about
25m high and a "rock the size of an office building laying on its side".
What, no standing stones, or carved stone heads a la Easter Island?

You and your family can stroll along the encircling beaches for a couple of
kilometres.

But given some of the recent scares over auctions at eBay, I would want to
do some very serious due diligence before plonking down the hard-earned.

If you have any cash left over, you may want to add as a feature this bridge
that is up for sale ...
