EA Should not be surprised.  Microsoft is unlike any company on earth.  For
them, partnering is a win-lose proposition.

Remember the scene in the Matrix?  The classic Agent Smith monologue to
Morpheus, works even better when you apply it to Microsoft:

"You move to an area and you multiply until every natural resource is
consumed, the only way you can survive is to spread to another area.  There
is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern, Do you
want to know what it is?  A virus."

The only problem is for this virus we have no cure.
