They cancelled the vote, sent it back to staff for reworking. With the legislative session drawing to a close, it's likely dead til next year. Here's a scenario I ran past them: Let's say you have another committee meeting in the morning, and decide to stay over at the Inn on the Park tonight.... You discover a listening device in your room. At this point you have no idea whether it was left behind from an industrial espionage run on the previous guest, was planted by the hotel because they suspect employe theft, planted by operatives of the opposite Party in hopes of snagging something they can use against you in November, was placd by an overzealous reporter, was put their by a detective hired by your spouse who suspects you've got something going on the side again, or came from a court order in the Caucus investigation. You destroy the device, stuff it in a drawer full of clothes, or just disconnect the battery. In every one of thes scenarios, you've violated the provisions of this bill...... (Committee Chair Scott Suder is a primary target of the investigation of the use of Caucus staff for campaign purposes, which surfaced when his ex-aide/ex-girlfriend went to the press. He's also refusing to allow the committee to move on the medical marijuana bill.) "NOT BORED!" wrote:
this is of great concern to those of us in the Surveillance Camera Players, a New York City-based group that protests against the use of video surveillance cameras in public places. it seems the language is so loose that what we do -- holding up signs and performing little skits in front of the cameras -- might become criminalized.
