OOPS: The Hewlett-Packard slugfest is getting sloppy. HP this week filed its annual report with the Securities and Exchange Commission and slipped in what at first looked like a slam on foes of the company's proposed merger with Compaq Computer.

The filing misspelled the names of several relatives of HP's founders who are trying to block the deal. It renamed the David & Lucile Packard Foundation ``the David & Lucite Packard Foundation, dubbed Mary Hewlett Jaffe ``Mary Hewlett Gaffe'' and called Eleanor Hewlett Gimon ``Eleanor Hewlett Limon,'' which means ``lemon'' en EspaƱol.

An HP spokeswoman told the Associated Press that a spellcheck program, not a Freudian slip, was to blame. A revised filing was posted Wednesday.
