Alas, Tauzin is in a powerful position, so it will take substantial effort to defeat it. --Brett Glass ------------ Lightning rod broadband bill to move forward By Jennifer JonesCONTROVERSIAL LEGISLATION DESIGNED to spark the rollout of high-speed broadband services will likely be debated on the floor of the House of Representatives in December.Favorable to regional Bell companies, the Internet Freedom and Broadband Deployment Act of 2001 seeks to remove the authority to regulate data services from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and state entities.House Energy and Commerce chairman W.J. "Billy" Tauzin, R-La.., and Rep.
