I've published a wide-ranging tutorial on the First
Amendment, speech issues, and the Internet on Web Review in
the form of a short story. Part 1 is now online at:

  The Meaning of Independence Day

This will be enjoyed by people on the Interest People
list. Because of it's length, I'll include only a teaser
here.

"The Meaning of Independence Day: The First Amendment and
the Internet in a New Century" won unanimous approval
from the faculty committee. On their scoresheets, it came
out far ahead of either of the next contestants: "The
Meaning of Independence Day: A Victory for Checks and
Balances" and "The Meaning of Independence Day: Freedom
from Unreasonable Taxes." Hedy waited weeks for
publication. The end of school came near, and still it
hadn't appeared in either the town newspaper or the Web
site. She approached the newspaper editor, who simply
said he was still waiting to receive it. The teacher
responsible for Web content was slightly more
informative, saying that it needed "administrative
approval" before going on the Web.
