  this picture dept'

Dave,

See today's NYT story about CIA backed company, Safeweb, given a contract
to help Chinese users avoid blocking and harrasment by their Government.
Hope Chinese users avoid cookies being planted on their machines.

As Safeweb, which strives to preserve user's anonimity by blocking cookies
from sites visited (one of the features specifically featured on their
home page) -- places a cookie itself on its users PC !!

Inherently undermines company's credibility. What's wrong with this picture??

Another example of an otherwise highly regarded technology focused
company, even one advised by such a set of highly acclaimed privacy
specialists on its privacy advisory board as is Safeweb, still missing
such an obvious credibility issue.
