As is usual when I travel I am going to distribute an irregular set of
comments on where I am.

We arrived in Sydney Australia two days ago after a 11 hour delay in SFO
due to mechanical problems with our UA flight. That made the trip to Sydney
a day trip and we arrived at 6 pm -- much better than the normal night
nightmare flight.

The weather in Sydney is "fine" with the temperature about 68. We are
staying at the Sir Stamford at Circular Quay. One of the best hotels I have
ever stayed in. Great staff, excellent accommodations and real close to
the ferries and the CBD (Central Business District). We walked down to
David Jones -- a great dept store and bought a uniquely AU gadget -- a
Splade . They are an eating implement that is a folk, knife and spoon all
wrapped into one. Great gifts.

Eating has been very good with so far Sailors Thai -- a neat great Thai
place on the Rocks and Aria -- a newish excellent place just down the
street from the Hotel.

My normal attraction to gadgets of the electronic type is being suppressed
since Sydney is not Japan.

When I get down to meetings on Monday and Tuesday I will send more about
the economic conditions and telecom situation. I had hoped to meet some of
the public interest groups involved in privacy etc but so far no bites from
them .

Tonight off to the Sydney Opera House for a performance.

More latter.
