Dave-- IP readers may be interested in the following. The Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB) has released a new report in its series on the evolution of the Internet, entitled "The Internet's Coming of Age." The early press coverage was a surprise. News reports emphasized a couple of elements, such as broadening access, that are actually emphases of other current or planned CSTB activities, and generally have missed the real contributions of this report: an insider-informed snapshot of what's really going on at the core of the Internet. Topics covered in the report include: -- Scaling Up the Internet and Making It More Reliable and Robust -- Keeping the Internet the Internet: Interconnection, Openness, and Transparency -- Collisions Between Existing Industries and Emerging Internet Industries: Telephony As a Case Study -- Implications for Broad Public Policy You can view/download the report at <www.cstb.org> (click on "New Releases"). --Jon Eisenberg
