This year's speaker is Margaret Wright of Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies. All are invited to attend. Monday, March 13, 7:30 p.m., HP Auditorium, Gates B-01 "A Computer Science Concoction: Secrets, Wildcats and the Best of Everything." Her talk will illustrate how computer science research encompasses a wide array of disparate topics. Tuesday, March 14, 4:15 p.m., HP Auditorium, Gates B-01 "Dispatches from the Interior-Point Revolution." She will offer an opinionated survey of classical material and recent research about interior methods for linear, nonlinear and semidefinite programming. Margaret Wright holds three Stanford degrees: a bachelor's in mathematics, and master's and doctoral degrees in computer science. She was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1997.
