Soon I will leave the FCC to go back to UPenn. I signed up on 17 Jan 2000 for a one year hitch at the FCC. GG and I have loved Washington and will miss it a lot. I have found the FCC to be a marvelious educational experience and the people at the FCC to be dedicated and neat. Dealing with the senior staff and the Commissioners and their staff , especially Bill Kennard, Kathy Brown and Mike Powell , was wonderful . I came to get educated and to educate and feel I have archived both goals. I think I made a difference. When I left for DC I thought that I owed a debt to my country and field and that I had to, in a small way, repay that debt. I made a down payment this past year. I expect to pay off more of that debt back at UPenn by helping to better educate some of the future leaders of our nation based on the broad perspective I have gotten in DC. I will be, after I leave, be writing a sequence of email to IP detailing what I have learned, what I would change. I hope it is read and understood. Again, thanks for a wonderful year to you IPers and those at the FCC who have made it such a wonderful experience. Dave For archives see: http://www.interesting-people.org/
