Date: Fri, 18 Sep 1998 08:44:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Declan McCullagh <declan () well com> \ Note Rep. Cox's amendment to yank most of the FCC regulatory sections got defeated by voice vote. So the FCC will be able to levy administrative fines of $50,000 a day for violations, assuming this bill becomes law. Individuals "aggrevied" by "harmful to minors" web sites can sue for actual *and* punitive damages. Also NTIA will study how to move "harmful to minors" web sites to an adult.us or similar domain. Now we know why the Post Office was itching to grab control of .us... I will forward thoughtful analyses of this new, revised CDA II. It is up for a vote next week. -Declan ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 18:49:51 -0500 From: David Sobel <sobel () epic org> To: Declan McCullagh <declan () well com> Subject: Re: Text of CDA2 Approved by House Telecom Subcomm.
