From: "the terminal of Geoff Goodfellow" <geoff () iconia com> Very interesting article in Friday's WSJ "A Smart Business Model Is Seen in a 'Stupid Network'" about David S. Isenberg and his internal AT&T essay (that leaked out): "Rise of the Stupid Network: Why the Intelligent Network was once a good idea, but isn't anymore. One telephone company nerd's odd perspective on the changing value proposition." available at http://www.isen.com/. He examines how the moveage of intelligence to the end subscriber units and out of the network is changing the value proposition of today's telcos and that they seem to be "responding" like sailing merchants responded to the threat of steam by inventing faster sailing ships in the mid 1800s.... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Geoff Goodfellow, Iconia.com s.r.o. * tel +420 (0)603 706-558 Vsehrdova 2, 110 00 Praha 1, Czech Republic * fax +420 (0)2 5732-0623 "The difference between a rut and a grave is depth" * icq 8448107 ******************************** See you at INET'98, Geneva 21-24, July 98 <http://www.isoc.org/inet98/>
