I asked Ron if I could send this to IP and he said:
Sure, send it on. Research in this country is dying. ron
Dave Date: Fri, 22 Sep 1995 09:04:51 -0400 (EDT) From: "Ron G. Minnich" <rminnich () Sarnoff COM> att right now is a $69B company (not counting NCR, er, GIS, which takes it to $77B). ATT now splits: Bell Labs is going to be part of a $20B company, which looks kind of like western electric. Anybody expect an equipment company to maintain their commitment to bell labs, esp. given the immediate almost-factor-of-four cash flow reduction, and the nature of the business (which looks like cut-throat, low-margin). Prediction: no more nobel prizes for people at bell labs. Maybe no more bell labs? This is very sad. ron Ron Minnich |(No Comment!): 'NTFS takes the best parts of rminnich () earth sarnoff com |FAT and HPFS ...
