During this time of budget reductions and limits on personnel, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) must find ways to produce and distribute its products in a more efficient manner. This sometimes requires a change in how a job is done and how the results are presented. One such change is the distribution of the USGS National Water Conditions Report via the Internet. With this change, only an abbreviated paper report will be available through December 1994. The paper report will be eliminated completely as of January 1995. However, the move to electronic dissemination provides the opportunity to expand and improve the information content of the report. The move to the Internet offers benefits by: allowing the public quicker access to the information, allowing for a larger audience, allowing the public to examine information for specific geographic areas, offering substantially more information at reduced costs. To access the USGS by the Internet you will need a computer and access to the Internet. Access to the Internet is available through many local private organizations for a nominal cost. The address of the National Water Conditions report is: http://nwcwww.er.usgs.gov:8080/ NOTE: Users of NCSA's PC MOSAIC software may experience problems viewing some of the graphics contained in the report. We are working to resolve the problem and ask your understanding.
