  I will be losing my job and my net access in September. I do not want
to lose my ties to the net.  Does anyone know of inexpensive net
services?  Does anyone know how to access "Free-net"?

  I am interested in hearing peoples' experiences in seeking and
obtaining non-traditional employment.  By non-traditional I mean work
outside of academic/government/industrial R&D.  My own experience is
that such employers generally consider people without the standard
training/experience for their work culture to be well meaning amateurs
(just as we might for non-scientists), and that good training and
experience in science doesn't carry too much weight in non-science
fields.
  It would be interesting to hear about both success and the lack
thereof in looking for non-traditional employment.  Since many of the
successes may not be on this net, someone may have second hand
information to share.
