honeypot

when building honeypot do i have to recompile arpd support in to my 
kernel or can i do with out it and still run honeypot correctly. i only 
have one eth0 and i want to have this as my honey wall, the 
documentation i have found on google and etc has realy confused me
anyhelp would be realy kewl thanx :D
