Yes, you are right. There is a group called RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) collecting information 
about illegal P2P activities .They use different methods to trap and log people who share and download illegal music 
files. One of the methods is using Honeypot p2p share clients. I found an interesting article about RIAA Anti-P2P
