Hi, did you use cmd.exe & telnet from a windows box in order to test ?There is sometimes some weird behavior caused by the fact that some telnet binary (the ms one is one of them) send every char one by one after each stroke.
Depending on the method (getc, read, sysread, and so on) used by the script to fetch input, some may fails to correctly parse command due to this.
