In Windows 2000/Windows XP I'm sure this works, but I'm not sure about the other OS's. Basically what you want to do is Right-Click on the card in Network Connections and go to the properties. After that, you will see a 'Configure' button at the top of the page. Click on the Advanced tab and then you will see a property for 'Network Address.' Just put the new MAC in the value field without spaces and you should be set. -----Original Message----- From: Joe Hickory [mailto:J.Hickory () gmx net] Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2004 4:27 AM To: honeypots () securityfocus com Subject: changing mac addresses of clients in vmware hi list, i am trying to set up a virtual honeynet within vmware. can i change the mac address for the clients to other than 00:50:56:XX:XX:XX ? i changed the mac entry in client.vmx to static and tried an other mac address. i just want to set the addresses to sth. like 00:60:94:XX:XX:XX which is AMD PCNET PCI. i dont want to get my guests nics fingerprinted as a vmware nic. anyone has a hint for me tia joe -- "Sie haben neue Mails!" - Die GMX Toolbar informiert Sie beim Surfen!
