error running rc.firewall

After recompiling successfully linux redhat 2.4.22 making the proper kernel modifications (special bridging and 
queueing options). Downloaded the latest version of iptables - 1.2.8 (and compiling it)...configured my rc.firewall 
vars...started up rc.firewall and received these errors...don't have a whole lot of experience with iptables but know 
enough to understand the various commands, more with ipfilter but thought I would give it a try...

below are the errors i get:
