LinkedIn *are* spammers.  That's what they do.  They've done it
during their entire existence and continue to do it today.

If you join LinkedIn, then YOU support spam.  YOU endorse spam.
YOU facilitate spam.

That's hardly appropriate for anyone who even pretends to be a
security professional.
