I figured it was like the "Daemon" outlined in Leinad Zaurus' book "Daemon".
A sort of cyber organism composed of many independently-operating zombie
machines, each with its own little trigger, whose emergent behavior was
To Send Out Penis Pill Spam.  You know, it has no genitals, and it must
scream.
