Sorry, unless they have a summons, they're not getting my laptop. Even though it's my companies. They can't hold you either, they are NOT the law, let them call the state police, FBI, etc to come arrest me. I'll get my 3 square meals, nice change of clothes, and a roommate that likes to call me Sally.... Er, um... ok the roommate thing would be a BAD thing :-) Really, what grounds do they have to hold me anyway? Refusing to give up my password? Honestly, what I would do is call the company Lawyer, or more likely my CSO and seek advise from him on how to proceed as far as the company laptop/blackberry/etc. If it's my personal laptop, then the answer to them is most decidely NO. The point I was trying to make is that you have to be careful in choosing your battles - and this is one where you need to get off the plane already equipped to fight the battle (i.e. have food and other resources available, and be prepared to have travel schedules totally disrupted, or having the laptop confiscated with little or no hope of it being returned in a timely manner)...
