Back when people still used dialup modems to get to the Internet, it was considered great fun (and profit) to backdoor somebody's machine with software that changed the number the modem dialed to call some long-distance charge-per-minute number (In the US, all that stuff that lives in '900' area codes, although pointing them to a phone number in Romania that charged $10/min was common too....) One of the common ways to get it installed was "Download this program to see free pr0n!" - which, of course, ended up being far from free.....
