I happen to have an actual serious quote for a DMX-3 config on my desk
(Not a petabyte config, but in the 300T range to start).  We also have
2 DLT autoloaders in-house (a Sun L-700 and an IBM 3494, both in the
700 to 800 tape range).  You don't back these beasts up to a DLT - in fact,
getting rid of the DLTs is part of the motivation here....

We're looking at using a (or maybe multiple) CX3-80 class box at the other end
of multiple fiber pairs and basically backing it up by doing replication to
another site multiple miles away...

The point I'll *really* start babbling is if we get these beasts and then
work on deploying life-cycle-management to migrate data between storage tiers. ;)
