Well, I was just *waiting* for somebody to say it. ;)

Last I remember, the biggest technical issue was still getting a stable
NTFS driver that could create files. Looking at the 2.6.16 tree that
came out last night, that functionality is still missing.

Yes. The API for writing to NTFS is very twitchy from what I have been
told. The journelling and other parts can be dependant on what release
of the NTFS drivers were used.. Microsoft 'knows' all this and so a
later driver can deal with any changes between say NT-3.5.1, NT-4.0
and NT-5.x but it has to be rediscovered each time. And then there
seem to be midlevel changes to writing the data that occur. From what
I remember there are people who have read/write working perfectly on
their systems.. but it doesnt work on an identical build later on.

:-(
