It was a travesty of jurisprudence.

There are many stories like that around the world. The solution is to fix the system, not prevent the police from gathering evidence. We need things like mandatory penalties, including jail time, for prosecutors and/or investigators who deliberately withhold evidence from the defense. The system needs to be changed so that openness and forthrightness is incentivized and deceipt and treachery is severely punished - and not by judges, because they are lawyers in sheep's clothing. It needs to be done by a citizens committee.
