Re: Hacking Boot camps!

Yes i do remember, been messing with it on a test box years ago,
but what i mainly want to say is that i have to agree with the discussion.
I started in 1994 and by that time it was even hard for a beginner to find
the right informations. The security industry didnt exist and everyone
learned on his own.

Nowdays its exploited to make money all the books tell the same basic stuff
over and over again,
wrapped in a new exciting cover..only a few that tell interesting stuff but
no news.
This trainings are mainly for people who have no clue, a real hacker wont
need such courses,
so why complain :P

Also what many people dont get is that security is maintaniance and not
hacking and security
consultants are just steam blowers that use automated tools to pretend they
would understand
what they do, but hardly know the basics...

I agree that is how we did it 10 + years a go there were no courses, no
books, just BBS's with docs and ezines.

and still the best way of doing it.

Set up your own lab at home, using vmware or alike and hack, crack all

like.

In my opinion all of the so called "hacking training" out there is
horrible and nothing more than a money grab. Look at the SANS
courseware, it is out of date and shit. The best training is to read,
google, and play on your own.
