Very important point!!!!    If you examine a building and it's a cheaply
built piece of crap, you can often tell - unless the builder goes to
lengths to hide it. (Which is a crime)  With software, it's hard to
determine from outside whether it's good or not until AFTER you've
bought it and used it for a while. By which time it's now part of your
critical infrastructure and then you're sucked into the cycle of throwing
good money after bad.
