RE: Exchange Server 2000 and Cisco Pix

only problem we've had regarding Fix-up protocol on PIX is for user
authentication to the Exchange smtp server. With smtp fix-up running on PIX,
this doesn't seem to work. Without it, authentication works fine.

I don't see why you should have to disable the smtp fixup -- we were
running exchange and exchange clients on 2000 with no problems.

Although this is probably yet another case of M$ forcing you to lower
security so that their software runs.

The command on the pix to disable it is:

        no fixup smtp

--john

Hello wizards,

I have a newly installed Exchange Server 2000 behind

Microsoft refers to Cisco without really being
specific - at least I could not find the solution at
Cisco's web page. Anyone here knows what I have to do?

Here's MS solution (Article ID: Q295164) for the
problem:

"RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, disable SMTP inspection on the
firewall. If you do not know the command to disable
SMTP inspection, contact Cisco."

Is this the fixup command I have to use and disable
smtp?

Thanks for your help in advance!
