only problem we've had regarding Fix-up protocol on PIX is for user authentication to the Exchange smtp server. With smtp fix-up running on PIX, this doesn't seem to work. Without it, authentication works fine. anthony ____________________________________________ Anthony Verrill Partner Communications LLC Voice: 888-742-0855 Voice 888-324-5454 Fax: 860-742-9894 Cell: 860-234-1261 http://www.partnerc.com/ mailto:anthony () partnerc com mailto:anthony () verrill net -----Original Message----- From: John Adams [mailto:jna () retina net] Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2001 6:37 PM To: puetz () mho net Cc: firewall-wizards () nfr com Subject: Re: [fw-wiz] Exchange Server 2000 and Cisco Pix I don't see why you should have to disable the smtp fixup -- we were running exchange and exchange clients on 2000 with no problems. Although this is probably yet another case of M$ forcing you to lower security so that their software runs. The command on the pix to disable it is: no fixup smtp --john On Mon, 21 May 2001, Christoph Puetz wrote:
Hello wizards, I have a newly installed Exchange Server 2000 behind my Pix and did receive an error from a mail client when trying to connect to the Exchange server. Microsoft refers to Cisco without really being specific - at least I could not find the solution at Cisco's web page. Anyone here knows what I have to do? Here's MS solution (Article ID: Q295164) for the problem: "RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, disable SMTP inspection on the firewall. If you do not know the command to disable SMTP inspection, contact Cisco." Is this the fixup command I have to use and disable smtp? Thanks for your help in advance!
