nslookup is an excellent tool for this. Do the following.
Actually, nslookup sucks a bit, IMHO, as it insists on performing a reverse lookup of the DNS server it wants to use (or you tell it to), refusing to work if that fails. Why that's a requirement I have no idea.. Dan Bernstein's DNS lookup tools are useful in this situation and to complement nslookup as well.
