Bruce, #Do any of you have some good references for how to proxy Microsoft's PPTP #through a fw from a Win98 system? #The only reference I've been able to find on their site is for setting up #an NT server to serve PPTP via RAS. #I'm particularly interested in port numbers, protocols, and so forth, as #one would need to know to set up a plug proxy, or a #packetfilter rule. It uses TCP port 1723 and ip protocol 47 (GRE). You can do a search for 'pptp 47 gre' on www.google.com to get more information. You could also get a network sniffer like tcpdump, establish a pptp connection and sniff the packets to see what it looks like on the network.
