Hi Scott,

We are also using Websense, as we are using Pix, and we have no choice.

Websense is regularly missing requests and going down (as Pix says). Check for PIX 304006.

But worth : filter proxies, babelfish is filtered, but not its IP.
I got many others this way. We gave them many URLs to filter. The next download, it is. One month later, it is no
longer.

I must consider Websense lacks of profesionnalism with his tool, and hope they will make a big effort soon.

Personnally, I setup a Linux box, pushing Pix logs (allowed) to a MySQL database, offering realtime log check for
projects, traffic queries, top xx, logs regexp search, ...

I'm currently evaluating WebSense (http://www.websense.com/index.cfm) with
my PIX firewall. It seems to do a great job of filtering web sites. I've
also been playing with the reporter software which logs all the URL's people
request into a SQL database. This too seems to be working great. Although,
when using the PIX, you cannot keep track of bytes downloaded, so many of
the canned reports do not work (since they are based on bytes downloaded).
I have started experimenting with different queries directly on the database
that will yield reports with relavent information.
I'm curious about the experience other's have had with WebSense? Any horror
stories?
Is there any competition to WebSense? Anybody else out there make software
so I can log my internet usage?
