SNMP from Hosts in the DMZ and above.

How do people currently handle receiving SNMP traps from devices in the DMZ and
their edge routers?

Possible sugestions we have been given include putting a seperate host to recive
the traps on the DMZ and then polling that host from our inside network.

Another option was to allow SNMP through our firewalls.

I'm hoping that there is a protocol level proxy that can make sure that traffic
passed through it is properly formatted, but I'm not aware of a SNMP proxy.
Anybody?
