Oh, I´m sorry ... english is not my native language. (Anyway, even in german my
sentence could be interpreted that way...)

To put things straigt: I meant the solution which best fits my needs while being
the lowest priced one, not the one with just the lowest price...

Since I got an eval CD of TurboCluster, I´ll give it a try... wait for more news
to come...

Bye,
            Tobias

P.S. Mainly I´m looking for automatic failover of processes (but load-balancing
is nice as long as it doesn´t cause me trouble with the software I´m going to
run,
        GaussVIP - a web-based content-managment-system).

Tobias,

You wrote:
I need to build a 2-3 node HA cluster for one of our customers.
My boss would like to see these machines running on linux (cause
it´s the cheapest solution...). I´ve browsed the web for approx.
9 hours but none of the solutions I found looked really stable/mature.
My favorites up to now are Eddie and "heartbeat" (Linux-HA project).

Boy, does this scare me... You're building a High Availability system for a
customer, yet you want the cheapest solution... If this "Cut-Rate High
Availability Cluster" goes down, will it be that "cheap" anymore to the
customer? I sure hope this is for a test environment. I digress...

On to the question. I have heard good things about "TurboLinux", but you
might check out "Linux clustering cornucopia" at LinuxWorld.com
(http://www.linuxworld.com/linuxworld/lw-2000-03/lw-03-clustering.html).
I'm right in the middle of reading through it so I can't judge if it will
help or not.

Do you have any more information on this mini-cluster? Are you just looking
for automatic failover of processes, or load balancing between some web
servers?

Good luck!

Dan
