A solution to this problem is to have a Firewall protecting the Remote
Client, as well as appropriate Virus software to detect the latest Trojans.
Checkpoint are about to ship a personal Firewall which is designed with this
weakness in mind, which would secure a remote user who periodically accesses
directly to a public untrusted network.

SecuRemote 4.1 (the client piece of this functionality) is already out. You can download it from Check Point's site.
Unfortunately, the "server" piece (i.e. FireWall-1 4.1) is not widely available yet.

What's cool about the new SecuRemote is that the "client" can choose a policy, but the firewall can decide not to
communicate with someone who has picked a policy other than the one they are supposed to have.
