Re: DMCA Violation

99% are movie downloads from “free” / pirate services. Some sort of app that relies on Torrent as its backend. A lot
of students that I’ve talked to in person claim to now know that they are doing it. In some cases, I believe them. In
other cases, I’ve called Bologna Sandwich.

The number of DMCA notices we’ve received has drastically gone down in the last 5 years. 5 years ago, we were getting
upwards of 100 per semester. Now, we receive probably 10-20 per semester. I attribute this mostly to more available
legal services (Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, Disney+) that have the majority of movies that students want to see.

+1 Smith does the same thing as Ken outlines (where, in step 1. "I" = me -- I am the registered point of contact for
DMCA ... :-)

Hi all,

I have a quick question about how everyone deals with DMCA violations.

1. What position is your official DMCA contact point? (ie CIO, CISO, Director, etc?)

2. What department does the investigation and tracks back to individual? (Networking, IT security, etc)

3. Who does the policy enforcement? (Student Services, IT, Campus Security, IT Security, etc)

Thanks!
