The American Museum of Natural History is seeking an Information Security Engineer to further enhance the security of 
its technology infrastructure in support of the Museum's global mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate 
information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific 
research, education, and exhibition.

The Information Security Engineer will apply IT security knowledge across a broad range of disciplines, activities and 
contexts. A successful candidate will work across several of the following domains including but not limited to Data 
Security, Digital Forensics, Incident Response and Analysis, IT Systems and Operations, Network Security, Systems and 
Applications Security and Vulnerability Management. A successful candidate will also work across the varied contexts 
that generate or support the work of the Museum: scientific research, scientific training, teacher training, supporting 
educators, engaging public schools and students, fundraising, membership, ticketing and admissions, operations, finance 
and legal operations. \\

Primary duties will include:

  *   Maintaining and expanding the Museum's cybersecurity infrastructure to provide the highest levels of security, 
while maintaining a balance between security and the collaboration required in research and educational endeavors.
  *   Performing vulnerability and risk analyses of existing and planned systems for a diverse clientele including 
scientific researchers, educational professionals, exhibit designers, administrative support staff, and collaborators.
  *   Working with internal staff, legal teams, and law enforcement on security investigations requiring the highest 
measure of confidentiality and professionalism.
  *   Continuously maintaining an intimate knowledge of the rapidly changing cyber-security landscape by synthesizing 
information about cyber-security from various sources such as Homeland Security, CERT, media, vendors and research 
organizations. Using that knowledge to spot potential risks to the Museum.
  *   In collaboration with others, design approaches and techniques to communicate with and educate our staff about 
cyber-security and to foster a security aware culture.
  *   Performing digital forensics examinations, including malware analysis, utilizing a variety of tools.
  *   Providing effective Incident response (IR) functions in keeping with existing policies, protocols and procedures
  *   Assisting in the Museum's regulatory and security compliance efforts.
