No faux pas.

You own your own words (YOYOW) and since it is open I'd say anything posted to this list is game for passing on to
other -- unlike REN-ISAC (the first rule of REN-ISAC is that you don't talk about anything which appears on REN-ISAC
mailing lists unless explicit redistribution of a piece of information is expressly provided).

I'll cop to that one. On the Oxford story the author emailed me and asked if he could use my comments on this list in
his story. I may have committed a faux pas, but I gave permission as I stood behind my comments and still do.

At least he asked. :)

Yes, there are members of the press that read this mailing list (as well as other Educause lists).

For example, the Chronicle of Higher Education wrote an article last night on the temporary (2.5 hour shutdown) by
Oxford University of Google Forms (Docs) and they may have gotten their 'lead' on that story from this mailing list.

If you want to discuss information in a closed group which is not open to the world (the press and others) you should
join and use REN-ISAC.

I was amused to see my own words quoted as "according to one member." I don't mind, I don't feel that my words
warranted attribution. However it's a good reminder to us all that this is a public forum and anyone can see what
