*Job Summary*

This person will join the Network & Security Services team reporting to the
Information Security Officer. The architect will be responsible for testing
and evaluating the security posture of USF, then defining the remediation
paths necessary to improve the university’s security posture. The architect
will also be responsible for project managing remediation efforts working
with appropriate members of the university. The architect will evaluate new
technologies with an eye to measuring the impact of the addition of such
new technologies to the university. The architect will participate in the
selection, procurement, deployment and ongoing management of systems
specific to improving the Information Security posture at USF.

*Job Responsibilities*

Deployment of new security systems including IPS systems, DLP systems,
Identity Access Management and Audit systems.
Management of currently deployed security systems.
Collecting data pertinent to the security posture of the university, and
presenting it in a fashion easily comprehended by various members of the
University community. This will require creating different reports directed
at ITS management, University Leadership as well as the broader university
community.
Design perimeter and access controls that support business and regulatory
requirements.
Work with various functional groups with ITS to define, design and
implement IT Security requirements

*Minimum Requirements*

BS in CS or equivalent; experience can substitute for field of study.
At least 3 – 5 years of experience in Information Security supporting
medium-to-large scale environment (1000+ endpoint systems).
CISSP certification preferred; experience can substitute for actual
certification.
Four or more years experience working in or managing Cisco production data
networks and security including 802.1, 802.3, 802.11 technologies; TCP/IP,
OSPF, RIP.
Knowledge of Cisco Network Admission Control Systems and Cisco ISE.
Knowledge of Cisco Wireless Control Systems
Knowledge of network security concepts and tools; Cisco PIX, QualysGuard
Enterprise, Palo Alto Networks firewall experience preferred. Knowledge of
SIEM technologies.
Excellent documentation skills.
Network traffic analysis and application troubleshooting.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication. Excellent
customer service.
Outstanding organizational skills, ability to prioritize effectively, and
experience with technical project management.
Highly service-oriented, reliable, responsible, self-motivated, and
enthusiastic.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with
a diverse group of customers and staff.
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional,
diplomatic and tactful manner.
Ability to work productively in cross-functional teams or resourcefully and
independently as an individual.
Ability to lift moderately heavy equipment (e.g. Servers, Monitors,
Printers, etc.)
Travel and work modified shifts when necessary.

Other Responsibilities:
Supporting the other teams within ITS with their various security needs
Forecasting future attack areas that should be focused on for improvement

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Programming and development experience with any IT components: firewalls,
network components, system monitoring, system backups etc.
Experience with one modern scripting or programming language
