The Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis
Center (REN-ISAC) and Indiana University’s Center for Applied
Cybersecurity Research are partnering with SANS to bring exceptional
security awareness and technical training to the education community at
substantially discounted pricing.

The program makes SANS Securing The Human, OnDemand, and NetWars
training programs, and Universal Vouchers available during special
aggregate purchase periods throughout the year. Substantial price
discounts are realized through aggregate buying power.

The program offerings are described in detail at:
http://www.ren-isac.net/programs/sans.html

The first period to open will be for purchase of Securing The Human
employee security awareness training. The period runs from February 1 to
March 15. Securing The Human provides extensive training that targets
today's weakest link in enterprise security - the human. The web-based
video training goes beyond just compliance and addresses the most common
risks using a proven framework based on the 20 Critical Security
Controls. The program contains 21 security awareness modules and nine
compliance modules, in areas like social engineering, passwords, mobile
devices, insider threat, FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.

Each module includes an online assessment. Materials are continuously
updated in order to provide the most up-to-date training available.
Individual progress through the program can be tracked. Each site can
choose to use the SANS-hosted Virtual Learning Environment, or
incorporate the training into their local LMS. Optional supporting
materials include newsletters, posters, screensavers and banners that
can be customized to your site's identity. During the aggregate purchase
period, Securing The Human can be purchased at $1.50 per seat for
one-year, or $2.50 per seat for 2 years.

Security awareness training is relevant and important for everyone
throughout an organization, and has the potential for significant and
important reduction of risks and exposure. SANS training has received
excellent reviews from those who have utilized the programs.

"I have never seen such high quality training, distilled to a perfected
message, and compressed into a timeframe that any organization should
willingly commit employee time to taking as a risk-reduction strategy",
said James A. (Jim) Richards III, West Virginia’s chief information
security officer.

*Live Webcast* REN-ISAC and SANS will host a live webcast on Wednesday,
January 25, to explain the Securing the Human offering and training, and
answer questions. The webcast begins at 1 p.m. EST. Registration is not
required. Details are at the program web page:

REN-ISAC's mission is to aid and promote cyber security operational
protection and response within the higher education and research (R&E)
communities. The mission is conducted within the context of a private
community of trusted representatives at member institutions, and in
service to the R&E community at-large. REN-ISAC serves as the R&E
trusted partner for served networks, the formal ISAC community, and in
commercial, governmental, and private security information sharing
relationships.

The SANS Institute was established in 1989 as a cooperative research and
education organization. Its programs now reach more than 165,000
security professionals around the world. A range of individuals, from
auditors and network administrators to chief information security
officers, are sharing the lessons they learn and are jointly finding
solutions to the challenges they face. At the heart of SANS are the many
security practitioners in varied global organizations from corporations
to universities working together to help the entire information security
community.

The Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research has been designated a
National Center of Academic Excellence in both Information Assurance
Education and Research by the National Security Agency and the
Department of Homeland Security. CACR is part of the Pervasive
Technology Institute at IU and is affiliated with the university's
Maurer School of Law.
