[Please excuse the cross-posts.]

We have heard from many of you that legislative and regulatory compliance is becoming an increasingly important
function for IT organizations. EDUCAUSE Policy continues to strengthen our Campus Policy efforts
(http://www.educause.edu/policy/campus) to equip institutions to proactively address complex legal and compliance
environments for information and communications technology. We recently collaborated with several key higher education
associations to produce a one-stop shop of compliance resources for higher education – see announcement below.

Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback regarding this new resource.

Thanks,

Rodney Petersen
Managing Director of EDUCAUSE Washington Office

Higher Education Associations Launch New Online Compliance Resource

March 1, 2012—EDUCAUSE Policy is pleased to announce the launch of the Higher Education Compliance
Alliance<http://educause.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0yMTczNDUyJnA9MSZ1PTEwMDg0OTIwNDUmbGk9MTA0MzUxMDA/index.html>, a new
online resource devoted to helping the higher education community comply with the ever-growing body of federal law and
regulation that affects colleges and universities.

Federal regulations touch every facet of college and university operations, from employment law to export controls,
from international programs to student affairs, from tax issues to accreditation. Dozens of national higher education
associations monitor these regulations and produce valuable resources to help their members achieve compliance.

This partnership of 20 national associations, spearheaded by the National Association of College and University
Attorneys (NACUA), aggregates compliance news and resources from EDUCAUSE and other participating associations,
government agencies, and relevant websites. The Higher Education Compliance Alliance website is designed to be a
continuously updated resource for administrators and others on campus seeking to understand their compliance
obligations.

"The ever-growing body of compliance obligations related to information technology makes this a valuable resource to
the EDUCAUSE community. CIOs, IT policy administrators, information security officers, and other IT staff who are
responsible for developing compliance programs or crafting institutional policies will benefit from this collaboration
with college and university attorneys, risk managers, and others who bring unique expertise."
