Re: Another SSN question...

Follow-up to this point.  It looks like the IRS allowed truncation to the
last four digits in the 2009 and 2010 tax years as per notice 2009-93
(http://www.irs.gov/irb/2009-51_IRB/ar10.html) but this was a pilot program
that is not continuing for the 2011 tax year (see "What's new" in
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1098et.pdf) 

 

So, it might not be the solution people need for this issue.

IIRC, the IRS stopped requiring that SSN's be printed on 1098T's last year.

This subject seems to bubble up this time every year on our campus driving
little action.  1098Ts are delayed because of missing SSNs in the system.
Where and how in the admission process do your universities collect SSNs?
