OSSEC runs on windows as well. It does require you to edit a xml config file instead of having a nice gui tool. It is also included in Trend Micro's Deep Security product along with several other features for host based security. http://www.ossec.net/ (I have no idea why they chose a .net for the project)
Because they weren't a .edu, they weren't a business so a .com wouldn't have been appropriate and they weren't a random organisation so a .org wouldn't apply. The project is significantly older than any business affiliation they have, .net was the most appropriate TLD for them to join. kmw -- Kevin Wilcox Network Infrastructure and Control Systems Appalachian State University Email: wilcoxkm () appstate edu Office: 828.262.6259
