Java shouldn't be required for the administrative web GUI interface,
_unless_ you are securing administrative login using Host Checker (the
Endpoint Security Compliance feature).

There is some JavaScript involved, though, so lynx may indeed be a problem,
but we use Firefox from our Linux hosts with no problems (ie, identical
functionality as Firefox on other platforms). No FreeBSD or OpenBSD
machines here, unless you count Mac OS X. :)

It's a web GUI, so yeah, it works reasonably well from all platforms.

For future reference, being web-based is not an indicator of any level

Point taken. As a fellow pedant, my apologies! What I really should have
said is that it works reasonably well from the management platforms that we
have in use here (Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux). :)

I did also try it from Safari on the iPhone, and things worked there as
well. But that was just to see if it worked.
