Re: IdM: Extent of access granted to Admitted students?

People who have applied to become students get access to our Student Information system (Datatel's Web Advisor) when
they receive their acceptance letter. This was done so that they can log in to see their financial aid awards. When
they register for classes their status changes to "student" and they then get access to all normal student resources.
If they do not register within a certain time period, the account is purged.

Or, to put it another way, what sets of IT services do admitted students
have access to at your school?

We're talking about the large pool of students who have only been
admitted, but have not yet accepted.

For example, are they given limited access to your PeopleSoft or Banner
systems?

Are they given email/Unix/Exchange accounts?

To what degree can they interact on-line with your institution?

Can they get personalized information? Can they conduct any transactions
(e.g., pay deposit)?

How are the triple A's (Authentication, Authorization, Auditing) handled
under the circumstances?

Feel free to answer as briefly or verbosely as you like.
