We use VLAN ACLs to restrict access from student networks to the rest of our campus network. We also use QoS to prioritize voice, video, student traffic, employee traffic accordingly. Student networks do not have a bandwidth cap, but their traffic will be dropped first if there is any congestion anywhere on our network. This rarely happens. Students have pretty much the same access to Campus resources as does someone coming in over our internet connection as all or our student services are web enabled. Student networks are treated as un-trusted networks here as much as is possible. Is it isolated through Firewalls, ACLS? Does it have dedicated bandwidth? How do users access internal College resources? Do they access resources through a VPN? Thanks, Daniel R.
