Information is below on how to apply. *Director, Network and Telecommunication Services (NTS), Hamilton College* The Director provides leadership, management, and technical expertise for the NTS team, which includes the director and four members. NTS is one of eight teams in Information Technology Services (www.hamilton.edu/college/its/) that provide excellent services and infrastructure to a national liberal arts college of 1800 students and 600 faculty and staff. The Director, with other team leaders, is part of the leadership/ decision-making body for ITS, and organization of thirty-three members. The director is responsible for overall planning, functionality, security, efficiency, and reliability of the college's voice and data networks and central servers. The director oversees and participates in the distribution of team responsibilities, including: configuration and maintenance of network routers, switches, firewalls, and other network control, and monitoring equipment; server administration; project planning and management; and on-call response for critical emergencies, The Director oversees the professional development and mentoring of staff. Other duties include budget planning, and regular communication/ coordination with various groups in the campus community. Continual evaluation and assessment of new technologies is an ongoing responsibility. The Hamilton campus network has over 6,000 wired nodes, 150 Cisco switches, Cisco Pix firewalls, Allot NetEnforcer. In addition, a Cisco secure wireless network covers the entire campus (buildings and outside areas) encompassing over 310 access points. Seventy-five servers are under central management at NTS. Operating systems are predominantly: Sun Solaris, and Microsoft with a small number of Apple, and Linux systems. Mission-critical: email, Datatel, Kronos, and Blackboard systems are part of this mix. At the desktop level, the campus is about 50/50 Windows and Macintosh. The voice system includes a Nortel Meridian PBX and Octel voicemail system with approximately 2,500 extensions. The college is in the early stages of investigating a possible VOIP replacement for this system. In addition he/she will have the best combination of the following demonstrated abilities and experience: . Five to seven years professional experience in a complex network environment . Experience supporting Cisco networks . TCP/IP networking, Internet technologies, DNS/DHCP . Windows and Unix server administration . Experience in physical layer technologies (data cabling, UPS and power systems, server room requirements, etc). . Network security . Supporting and troubleshooting data communication and server hardware and software . Project management . Staff development . Oral and written communications . Superior customer service skills and attention to user needs .
